Treasurer Don Goodman introduced
Mr. K.R. Wood of the Lone Star Dream Foundation,
who provided the program for today's meeting. Mr. Wood stated that the purpose of his organization
is to educate and enrich all generations in expanding their knowledge of Texas
History by bringing it to life through the arts of music and theater. Mr. Wood continued by introducing his
"Himallayan Racoon" cap, which acquired that name, because they found
him a layin' beside the road. Mr.
Wood explained that many of his programs are presented to school
children, and that they were enthusiastic listeners. He then began telling stories and
singing about people and events pertinent to early Texas history, such as the
"Ballad of the Alamo,"
and finished with the Roy Rogers theme song, "Happy Trails to You." Mr. Wood just happened to have
some books and CD's available for sale to our members.
Ray Farmer offered the benediction, and President Wells adjourned the meeting
at 11:30 AM. The next meeting will be Saturday, August 1, 2009.
