President Wells reported that the health considerations for Secretary Howard Glenn have caused him to tender his resignation from this office for 2009. President Wells asked for a volunteer to take on the unexpired term of Secretary Glenn Howard, and Dr. Chris Hull came forward to accept the position.  At that point, President Wells asked for a nomination and second to elect Chris to the job which took place immediately and Chris Hull was elected.

SRT President Vaughn Oliver came forward to present a certificate of appreciation to SRT Regional Representative and former Chapter President Duane Blair for his service and recognition as the Northern District Representative for SRT.

Treasurer Don Goodman introduced  Mr. K.R. Wood  of the Lone Star Dream Foundation, who provided the program for today's meeting.   Mr. Wood stated that the purpose of his organization is to educate and enrich all generations in expanding their knowledge of Texas History by bringing it to life through the arts of music and theater.  Mr. Wood continued by introducing his "Himallayan Racoon" cap, which acquired that name, because they found him a layin' beside the road.  Mr. Wood explained that many of his programs are presented to school children, and that they were enthusiastic listeners.  He then began telling stories and singing about people and events pertinent to early Texas history, such as the "Ballad of the Alamo," and finished with the Roy Rogers theme song, "Happy Trails to You."   Mr. Wood just happened to have some books and CD's available for sale to our members.

Ray Farmer offered the benediction, and President Wells adjourned the meeting at 11:30 AM.  The next meeting will be Saturday, August 1, 2009.
