President Blair called the
meeting to order at 10 am and asked Russell Leavens to offer the invocation,
which was followed by the pledge of allegiance to the American and Texas Flags.


Mr. Blair called on Vaughn
Oliver to come forward and make a presentation of a Chapter 36 honorary
membership award to Ronald Vandiver, which Mr. Vandiver accepted and expressed
his gratitude to the members for accepting him into the Association. Mr. Oliver
announced that the DVDÕs containing records of member applications to SRT would
be available in March of 2009 and there would be 140 DVDÕs per set at a cost of
$250.00 per set.
President Blair asked that
each person in attendance stand and introduce himself/herself and tell of their
ancestry after which Mr. Blair asked Jerry Spencer to present the minutes of
the August 2, 2008 meeting for a vote of approval. The minutes had been posted
on the Chapter web site and there were no recommendations for additions or
corrections and a motion to approve the minutes, as written, was made and
seconded and passed unanimously by voice vote. Mr. Spencer provided a
treasurerÕs report showing a balance of $2,970.22 at August 2, 2008 and
$2,500.00 at October 3, 2008, which was also approved by voice vote.
President Blair then asked
Virgil Ellis to come forward and introduce Glen Howard who made a presentation
of the program for the meeting which was about the Palo Duro Canyon battle
which ended Native American raids on Anglo Texas settlers. Mr. Ellis expressed
appreciation to Mr. Howard for his presentation.
President Blair announced that the nominating committee, made up of past presidents John Williams, Ben Milam, Vaughn Oliver and Albert De Leon, would present their recommended slate of officers for 2009 at the next meeting which is scheduled for 6 December at 9:30 am and a vote for election of officers and their installation will follow.
Russell Leavens offered the benediction and Mr. Blair adjourned the meeting at 11:35 am.
